Final Game Project

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23955244/

I started this project by doing what I thought was the easiest which was broadcasting then I continued on to do things in order of difficulty. I worked through my problems by trying different things on different sprites. I would often check to make sure things were working properly by playing it even when I wast finished yet. Overall, it was a difficult project, but very doable.

Debug It Week 2

Debug It 1:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23545977/

In order to fix this you need to drag the definition of meow and the sound both into Gobo.

Debug It 2:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23546310/

To fix this I changed where it said to repeat 10 times to repeat answer in the counting definition.

Debug It 3:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23546598/

To fix this you use the wait and broadcast blocks in between each name. you also use the wait block once the broadcast is received for each name.

Debug It 4:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23546772/

In order to fix this all I needed to do was add the broadcast jump block after Sprite1 says "jump!"

Debug It 5:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23546833/

To fix this I added a start when green flag is clicked and then hide directly after that. I also changedthe broadcast to auditorium and added show after that.

Reflection:
In order to debug these activities I thought of the most reasonable explanation for why they wouldn't be working the way they should be. I wasn't right all the time, but by trying out different things I always seemed to come to the right conclusion on how to fix it. I would tell others to try a bunch of things out in order to find the problem. Some times it is frustrating, but you will eventually find it.

Try It Reflection

I solved puzzles 1, 7 and 8. I didn't use a certain strategy other than trying things out and seeing if they worked. It helped a lot to know how to use Make A block in this lesson. This lesson brought together a lot of the ones we have used in the past in a way. We had to figure out how to get it to work by using a bunch of different techniques and blocks. Overall, we were very successful.

Scenes Reflection

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23392482/

I enjoyed making this project because I think it was the one that was most realistic. It looked cool and more interesting by simply just changing the backdrop. As the sprites talked about what they wanted to do I would change the backdrop according to what they were saying. I would have one sprite ask if they wanted to go somewhere and have the other say yes and then change it. I think that is the most realistic way.

Broadcast Reflection

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23246690/

In order to remix this I used the block broadcast which helps the characters have a conversation. It helps tell when each sprite should talk and when the sprite should be waiting. I found using this block a little confusing because I feel like the same thing can be done in a simpler manner. I don't see the whole point in the block, but it gets done what it wants to. This block is used after one sprite says something. It tells the other sprite to wait until they have finished talking for them to say what they want. I think this would be helpful for a more difficult project, but just made it more confusing in the Penguin Joke one. Overall, I probably wouldn't use the broadcast block on my own.

Make A Block Reflection

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/23131239/

When using Make A Block it really helps to organize everything that is being used. It can put as many blocks as you want into one. A good time to use make a block is either when you have too many different blocks and you need to organize them. You can put more than one block into the block that you make on your own. Also a good time to use make a block is when you may want to use a certain set of blocks over again but not right after each other. Instead of having to put out another 10 blocks if you use make a block then you would only need one. Overall, I enjoyed using make a block. Once I got used to it it made organizing my blocks a lot easier. I would suggest to people using scratch to use the make a block because it is a very helpful resource.

X-Ray Goggles

I added 5 pictures to the Bruins official website. I added a dog, a pen, balloons, a play and a clock that you can't see.

I added 5 pictures to the Boston Red Sox homepage. I added a bruins logo, patriots logo, a present, a crayon and a black circle.

Lastly, I added 5 new pictures to the Patriots official page. I added a guitar in the top right hand corner, a new search bar, a Jets logo instead of a Patriots logo, a present and lastly a ring that you can’t see because it’s at the bottom of the page.

Overall, I didn't enjoy using the X-Ray Goggles as much as I thought I would. They were frustrating to use at times. It was annoying how some pictures were too big and took up the whole page. I didn't find using the X-Ray Goggles very realistic.

DeBug It Reflection

When debugging we didn't have a specific strategy that we used. We mostly went through the blocks trying to fin out what looked not right. Then we played around by adding and deleting different blocks to see what worked. If I were to give someone advice on debugging I would tell them to look for what seems off and incorrect. Also, try changing some things around to see what you can make out of it. I would say there's no specific strategy that can be used other than playing around with things. It can be very difficult at times and very easy at times.

Debug It 5

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/22925422/ You need to put the play sound and say meow both inside the repeat button in that order.

Debug It 4

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/22925146/ After the "if on edge, bounce" button add a "set rotation style left-right" button.

Debug It 3

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/22924953/ In order to do a full flip I changed the first turn to 360 degrees instead of 90 degrees.

Debug It 2

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/22924659/ In order for the sprite to move back and forth you need to put repeat around say, "I like the left side," glide, say "I like the right side too" and glide. Also, you need to add another glide using coordinates (-170,28) after it says "I like the right side too."

Debug It 1

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/22924236/ When the cursor is over Gobo you need to add a green flag to click on in the beginning in order for both of the sprites to start dancing.

10 Block Challenge

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/22868092/#editor The 10 Block Challenge wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. It frustrated me a little bit when the sprite didn't look like it was moving at all, but then I realized all I had to do was make the coordinates farther apart. It helped me learn a lot about the different blocks that I probably never would have used like hide and show. I think the glide to block was the coolest one to use. Although this restrained me from doing a lot of other things it showed me some new ways to be creative.

Unit 4 Day 1

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/22810743/ This activity was very interesting. It showed me clearly set-by-step of what to do. I had no problem using it because they made it so easy to do. I was also surprised by how many different moves, sounds, events, etc. that you could use. The different characters were very cool and they had a lot of them. I felt the most creative when using the keyboard to change something like a costumes or a color. I would rather my creation always have structure. It is a personal preference of mine. Overall,I think this website is very cool and creative.

Mozilla Webmaker

I found using Mozilla Webmaker interesting. I felt as though I had hacked into certain websites where I was able to change things around and create images that fit more to my own personality. My favorite one to make was the postcard. I made this for my choice one. I liked how I could pick anywhere in the world to choose a photo from and write my own little message to go along with it. My least favorite one was the meme. I felt like there wasn't much guideline to it. I rather structure than have no idea what I should be writing. Overall, I enjoyed using Mozilla Webmaker because I felt in control. It is something that I would definitely use again.
